Tea Pluckers of Darjeeling: Harvesting Tradition Amidst the Misty Hills
On a misty morning, as we left the guest house at Singtom Tea Estate, we caught a glimpse of the tea-pluckers beginning their day’s work. With dew still resting on the leaves from the night before, they quietly made their way across the steep hills. Through cold mornings, difficult terrain, and changing weather, these hardworking people continue their daily routine to produce one of the world’s finest teas — the famous Darjeeling tea. As we stood there watching the morning unfold, we approached one of the workers, and she happily agreed to pose for us, carrying a warm smile and a touch of shyness in her eyes.
